Coconut Water: How It Cured My Zits, Gastric & Hangover. Best Part? I Don't Even Need A Machete To Whack 'Em Open.

Coconut Water How It Cured My Zits, Gastric & Hangover.

it takes a steady arm strength, a balanced flooring, and a sharp machete to open a coconut. but it's the juicing that appeals to me the most - therapeutic whack, i call it.

You might be wondering why am I sharing about coconut water in this post? If you're a junk food fiend, there's not much of explaining to do.

There are times that junkfood (i.e LAYS potato chips) kills my system and gives me this shitty pain whenever I pass urine; sorry TMI. I dehydrate with of course, water but I make sure I drown myself with coconut juice or coconut water. Let me say that it increased my recovery to a great extent. My neighborhood 24 hour fruit stand's selling a coconut fruit for $4 so I get to spend about  $28 per week.

While working out, I prefer to hydrate myself with coconut water rather than gulp a bottle of a brightly colored pink sports drink. I don't care which one is healthier, what I'm more concerned with is what makes my system actually 'run.'

Although I'm a big fan of the fruit and fortunately not a soda person,  I tried shifting my attention to these coconut water flooding the aisles of supermarkets and convenience stores. They eulogized a gamut of coconut's merit : Pulp-free, sugar-free, 100% preservative-free, 100% coconut water, never from concentrate- I did not confuse myself with those and just carted them randomly. Let my guts kick in with one coconut at a time.

As you know there are a wide variety of coconuts and there are factors that affect its overall taste - the soil they grow in, the country's humidity, the maturity it reaches once its picked up. Since I cannot be doing a rundown of the actual fruit, here's what I did.

I tried 6 different brands of coconut water and I happened to make each one of them work. Different brand, different usage.

Nope, this ain't a taste test neither

am I a coconut expert. But still, I have ranked them by taste... get it?

#6. coco life coconut water.

This one's straight up bad. That cloying aftertaste. EW. Wait lemme think. That flavor nuance is a reminiscent of a pond. Yes, a freaking pond. And yes again - as I have tasted pond water before so I know how bad that is.

#5. yeo's coconut juice drink (real

fruits, real pulp).

One word, artificial. The tiny cubes of coconut flesh makes up for its 'nothing special' taste.

#4. coco cool coconut juice with pulp. Watery but with a few coconut nubs floating around makes this one a pleasure to drink. Slightly cooling, no pun intended.

#3. thai heritage coconut water.

husk-like, nutty taste, the closest taste you'll get from a real coconut. I like the sweet and clean taste of this one!

#2. just picked.

This one channeled a slightly sweeter flavor, nice and light.

#1. tipco. hell, this is refreshing. I actually could drink this daily but then for its price I'd rather settle for the real coconut. I found myself addicted to this!

Love its suave and crisp, nice finish.

3 of these comes in tall boy steel cans while the rest are in plastic or tetra paks. Some say it's better to pick up those canned ones. As for me it doesn't really matter. I could choke down a tetra pak'd TIPCO in one sitting.

Whatever your choice is, just choose those with tags of "Not From Concentrate," don't confuse yourself too much. After all, water is free.

now on to the second part of this post.

I only managed to experiment and get positive results with these 3 brands. I don't see any point in sharing the rest of them which didn't work for me at all right? So here goes:

coco life coconut water
It's a pity that while having the prettiest and colourful packaging of the lot, this one obviously suck the most for me. So I made an improvised coconut mask. You know those facial mask capsules being sold at Miniso? Soak it in this coconut water with about 2-3 drops of lime and put on your cleansed face for 5-8 minutes. I don't know about you but I can't go on for more than 10 minutes. I started to feel icky and felt a bit of itchiness - the longer I leave it , the itchier it gets. Some people recommend to use lemon and honey- some even yogurt! But I prefer to use lime alone. In any case, you can also use calamansi! But I highly recommend lime as it somehow neutralizes the smell of the coconut water. Rinse with cold water, follow up with a moisturizer.  I was surprised with the cooling effect and noticed that my skin's a tad glowing by the next morning.

just picked

Skip the gastric, pick Just Picked. This one works real quick for those with an upset stomach. I hate taking gastric pills and this does the drill. I remember that my nutritionist mentioned coconut water contains tannins - which are useful in reducing the inflammation in our tummies. Yes, bye gastric and yaye to a more regularized bowel movement.

tipco
Since this is the most refreshing of the lot, it cures my hangover and zits whenever I eat excessive loads of oily foods. You know onion rings, fries and beer? Heaven! I can literally skip the caffeine and go for this, a pop of paracetamol and I'm good to go.

Do note that I only apply this to zits, not those ripened pimples. I'm totally not up for it.

You can kick my butt for not scribbling down the corresponding prices for these coco water (if you've been a long-time reader of my blog, you know how I suck with price recall). The only thing I'm sure is that they range from $1.50 to about $3? I may be wrong but with my list, the TIPCO is the most expensive one- about $4-$5, tops.

Again, these may or may not work for you so try at your own risk. There's a reason why the word "MY" was inserted into the title of this post.
